David Izbrand, M.D. completed his pre-medical education at the University of
Texas Austin receiving a BA in Biology, in 1977. He went on to study
physiology at UT at San Antonio, receiving his Masters of Science in
August of 1982.
He began his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science
Center at Houston in 1982 and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in
1986.
He then spent two years in the Family Practice program at John Peter
Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth Texas. Later, he entered the ophthalmology
program at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas Texas. While there, he
participated in a study examining |
| macular holes. He
completed the residency program in June of 1992. |

Upon the recommendation of Dr. Robert
Nystrom, Abilene's first ophthalmologist, he moved to Abilene and setup
practice. The American Board of Ophthalmology certified him in June
1998. He is a member of the AMA, Texas Medical Association,
Taylor-Jones-Haskell Medical Society, Texas Ophthalmic Association, and
the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Currently he is on the active staff at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene
Regional Medical Center, and Zale-Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas
Texas. His surgical interests include cataract surgery, plastic surgery
of the eyelids, and refractive surgery, including LASIK. Dr. Izbrand is
currently accepting new patients. |
